BAM! KABOOM! NLR Parks and Recreation Unveils "Super Charged" SAPLING Summer Camp 2026!

Dust off your capes and lace up your boots! NLR Parks and Recreation is officially issuing a "Hero Call" for the 2026 Summer Activities Camp (SAPling). Designed for youth entering 1st through 8th grades in the fall of 2026. This SAPling program is more than a camp; it’s a training ground for the next generation of superstars.

With a mission to have the “Best Summer Ever”, SAPling 2026 offers three action-packed sessions and a specialized Mini-Skills week to keep young heroes engaged all summer long. 

Camp Locations: Glenview Community Center, North Heights Community Center, Sherman Park Community Center, and Rose City Community Center for 6th-8th grade youth.

Babysitter Training Camp is a free, three-day intensive program that has become one of the library's quickest-filling offerings. The June session runs Monday through Wednesday, June 8-10, and the July session runs Monday through Wednesday, July 6-8. Both sessions meet from 10 AM to 3 PM at The Loft Teen Center at Laman Library.

Beginner Sewing is an eight-week Thursday course running through June and July from 2 to 4 PM. Teens will learn hand stitching and machine sewing techniques and complete take-home mini projects. Only six spots are available.

Summer Art Club meets on Mondays at 2 PM throughout June and July, with a new hands-on project each week.
