Babysitter Training Camp
Babysitter Training Camp is a free, three-day intensive program for teens ages 13-18 that has become one of the library's quickest-filling offerings. With only 10 seats available per session, teens are encouraged to register early. Participants will earn First Aid and CPR certification, explore the basics of childhood development, learn age-appropriate activities and care strategies, and receive hands-on guidance building their own babysitting business and marketing plan. Lunch is provided each day, though participants with food allergies are asked to bring their own meals.
The June session runs Monday through Wednesday, June 8-10, and the July session runs Monday through Wednesday, July 6-8. Both sessions meet from 10 AM to 3 PM at The Loft Teen Center at Laman Library. To register, email Jenna Jones at jjones@nlrlibrary.org.
Beginner Sewing
Beginner Sewing is an eight-week Thursday course running through June and July from 2 to 4 PM. Teens will learn hand stitching and machine sewing techniques and complete take-home mini projects. Only six spots are available. To register, email Jenna Jones at jjones@nlrlibrary.org.
Summer Art Club
Summer Art Club meets Mondays at 2 PM throughout June and July, with a new hands-on project each week. This summer's lineup includes watercolor chemistry, beaded cluster keychains, comic zines, metal amulet making, cyanotype sun prints, and tie-dye bandanas.
